Short description:
The session addresses the question what aspects researchers ought to consider when deciding on the right journal to get their scientific article published. Worldwide there is a wide range of potential journals to which to submit an article, yet the consideration set is often limited. In the world of publishing, new developments are taking place such as the increasing importance of open access journals, causing new challenges and demands from the part of the author. Participants are introduced into the databases that can be used to search a journal that fits best the profile of their research, in how to evaluate the quality of that journal, the role of the peer review processes and on how to judge citations and impact factors.
Competences:
Being able to select publication sources suiting best their research topic and to critically judge the aspects which compose the level of a publication source.
