A new course on writing 'English for Academic and Research Purposes' (EARP) will start on March 27th. To match the practical needs of junior researchers, we have chosen the following format: one seminar for a group of maximum 30 junior researchers will be followed by individual coaching sessions where you can improve a text you are currently working on.
In the group seminar Michael Whitburn and Pamela Dalby will discuss 'Writing in English: do's and don'ts'. This group seminar should prove a useful introduction to the problems you encounter when writing in English, and should serve as a basis for the subsequent coaching sessions.
The latter sessions are by appointment only and are meant for junior researchers who are currently writing an academic text (paper, chapter of a book,...) in English. Let there be no misunderstanding: your text will NOT be corrected for you! You will have to do that yourself. But you will be taught how to do this based on your work, your needs and your mistakes.
IMPORTANT: coaching sessions are restricted to junior researchers who have taken part in the aforementioned group seminar!
This is to register for the workshop English for Academic Research Purposes on the campus of Etterbeek, March 27 th, from 09.00 to 12.00.
This workshop is only open to PhD students who are member of a Doctoral School of the VUB or of UGent.
For participating in this workshop you can receive 1 study point for your Doctoral Training Programme.
Please state your Doctoral School after 'Organisation'.
We will send you a confirmation with the exact location.
